Multiple students from the Department of Plant Sciences recently won awards at the annual CANVAS meeting! CANVAS 2025 took place November 9th-12th in Salt Lake City, Utah. This conference is the meeting of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). The Department of Plant Sciences would like to congratulate the following students who won awards at CANVAS:
- Jacob Wittmer – 1st in SASES (Students of Agronomy, Soils, and Environmental Sciences) 2025 Research Symposium Oral Session II (Advisor: Dr. Renata Nave Oakes)
- Bailey Burns – 1st place, Bioenergy Community Poster Competition (Advisor: Dr. Virginia Sykes)
- Rachel Hefton – 1st place, Oral Student Competition of Cotton, Hemp, Flax, and Other Fiber Crops (Advisor: Dr. Mitchell Richmond)
- Samuel Okai – 3rd place, Robert F. Barnes Competition – CSSA/C06 Division, Oral (Advisor: Dr. Frank Yin).
