The Department of Plant Sciences extends congratulations to Distinguished Professor of Plant Sciences, Dr. John Sorochan, for being named one of the 2025 UT President’s Award winners. Dr. Sorochan received the Bold and Impactful faculty award.
The UT President’s Award is the highest honor an employee of the University of Tennessee System can receive. Faculty and staff from across the UT System are eligible for the awards, which recognize their accomplishments and dedication to the University and its Be One UT values. Each winner receives a commemorative plaque, as well as $3,000.
The winners will be honored by UT System President Randy Boyd and his cabinet during a luncheon in August.
Dr. Sorochan currently directs the University of Tennessee Center for Athletic Field Safety and is the primary investigator for the research for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and 2026 FIFA World Cup. He is also a consultant for FIFA and the National Football Players Association. His work focuses on turf sustainability and athlete safety. Dr. Sorochan also teaches in the Department of Plant Sciences and co-founded Dream Academy Soccer in Botswana.
Congratulations, Dr. Sorochan!
