Background Information
The Plant Sciences Graduate Student Association hosts social events, seminar exchange, a fall welcome event, and participates in community service. Find out more below.
Social Events:
Social events are organized so that the Plant Sciences graduate student body has an opportunity to interact in a casual setting, rather than always professional. The events take place on campus and off campus, with attention to low-cost for those attending. Camaraderie among peers allows for a more comfortable professional environment. Some of the events organized are below:
- Trivia Nights at local restaurants
- Ladies Movie Night
- Coffee Break
- Game Night
- Tailgates for football games
- Cook-outs (even for students in West Tennessee!)
Seminar Exchange:
Find out more information about Seminar Exchange here.
Fall Welcome Event:
The welcome event is organized by the PSGSA to provide an opportunity for incoming graduate students to meet peers and Plant Sciences administrators. Lunch and Plant Sciences merch is provided for the incoming students. A short campus tour is also conducted to showcase important locations and resources on the main and agriculture campus. This event ensures incoming graduate students feel welcome.
Community Service:
In previous years, the PSGSA has adopted the garden, or part of the garden, and ensured its cleanliness as a community service endeavor. While every year can be different in terms of engagements, expanding our community service outreach is an aspiration for the future of the PSGSA.
